Nylon Chip for Sustainability

  • CO2 Emission 52% ↑

2050 Global CO2 Emissions expected to increase by 52%
The main reason to encourage the climate change is emission of CO2.
    (OECD Environmental Outlook to 2030)
  • Ocean Pollution

The 150 million tons of plastic is dumped into our ocean. It encompasses plastic lines, ropes and fishing nets which were used of fishing industry.
Of this litter, 10% is fishing nets. And it has been composing of The Great Pacific Garbage Patch(GPGP). This is rapidly accumulating garbage.
(2018, Scientific reports _ Evidence that the GPGP is rapidly accumulating plastic)

For Sustainability,Hyosung TNC

Hyosung TNC is making two types of Recycled Nylon Chips.
One is made from Pre-consumer waste, the other is made with Post-consumer waste fishing nets from ocean. These two types of Recycled Nylon chips reduce CO2 Emissions Compared to regular nylon chips. Especially, Post-consumer recycled Nylon chip is leading to protect a marine pollution problem.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is defined as the systematic analysis of the potential environmental impacts of products or services during their entire life cycle.

Recycled nylon chip has been subjected to third-party verification through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to measure actual carbon reduction impact. The production of one ton of chemical recycled chip results in approximately 73% carbon reduction and roughly 76% decrease in the use of fossil oils compared to production of conventional Nylon chip. Producing one ton of mechanical recycled chip leads to approximately 93% carbon reduction and about 95% decrease in the use of fossil oils compared to the production of conventional nylon.
